Allen Iverson 28pts vs Raptors 07/08 NBA *amazing shot *nice alleyoop to Melo *crossover on TJ Ford

Allen Iverson doesn’t expect his fractured right ring finger to feel better anytime soon. Taking time off down the stretch, with the Denver Nuggets fighting for a playoff spot, simply isn’t an option. So, he’s learned to accept the pain. Not that the finger affected him Friday night. Iverson scored 28 points, going 9-of-12 from the floor, as the Nuggets blew out the Toronto Raptors 137-105 for their fifth straight win at home. The Denver guard hit seven straight attempts before missing a 3-pointer early in the third quarter. He also made all 10 of his free throws. “It felt OK before the game,” Iverson said. “Now, it feels that much worse. It’s throbbing like a heartbeat.” Iverson, who hurt his finger against San Antonio a week ago, slips on a brace after every game per doctors orders. “If I didn’t wear this brace to keep it straight after every game, there’s a chance it will get worse and I’ll have to get a pin,” he said. Yet he refuses to wear anything on the finger in a game. “I’m just real superstitious,” Iverson said. Nuggets coach George Karl would like to get Iverson some rest, but there’s no time, not with the Nuggets currently on the outside glancing into the playoffs. They trail Golden State for the last spot. “I don’t think we can lose a [player] because of an injury the rest of the way,” Karl said. “It’s the time of year where we have to play like it’s a playoff circumstance. Everybody is hurting a little bit — AI is probably at the top of the list.” The

Kobe Bryant greatest games: 61pts at Madison Square Garden (2009)

(2009) Kobe Bryant torches the New York Knicks for 61pts – the most ever by any player at the Madison Square Garden. Its a blessing to do what you love and to have moments like this. That’s how Kobe Bryant described his historic performance. With perhaps the need to lift up his team following the news of Andrew Bynum’s knee injury, which will sideline him 8 to 12 weeks, KB amazed the MSG crowd by scoring 61pts and leading LA to a 126-117 win over the Knicks. Kobe started the game by hitting his first three shots and was clearly in attack mode. He scored 18pts in the first quarter and finished the half with 34pts – 2nd most by a player this season behind Melo’s 36. He added 12 more in the 3rd and spent most of the 4th at the foul line, sanking one free throw after another. Kobe’s absolutely stunning offensive performance was rewarded by chants of “MVP” and cheers from the MSG crowd as the reigning MVP left the game with 2 min remaining. He was better than Michael Jordan’s 55 in March of 1995, the old record for an opponent. He was better than Bernard King’s 60 against the Nets on Christmas in 1984. His 20-for-20 performance from the line on Monday was second only to Dominique Wilkins, who sank all 23 of his free throws against the Bulls in Dec. 1992. Bryant, who also finished with the highest-scoring game in the NBA this season, left to a loud ovation after the 24th 50-point game of his career. He recorded his fifth career 60-point game, the second most in NBA history

Indiana Pacers @ Chicago Bulls | 1998 Playoffs | ECF Game 7: “Last Dance” continues

The Chicago Bulls, given chance after chance by the Indiana Pacers, will have a chance at their third straight NBA title. The two-time defending champions, playing their first Game Seven in four years, overcame surprisingly poor shooting by Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen with timely offensive rebounding in an 88-83 victory that vaulted the Bulls into the NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz. “We definitely got the effort from our players, but the difference in the game was that we got beat to loose balls and on the boards,” Pacers coach Larry Bird said. “We’ve talked about offenssive boards all year. Tonight we were just overmatched. The number of offensive rebounds they got ripped our hearts out.” Even with league rebound leader Dennis Rodman limited to six boards, the Bulls held a 50-34 edge on the glass. Pippen pulled down 12 and Jordan and Luc Longley grabbed nine apiece. Pippen and Jordan combined for 11 offensive rebounds. “Rebounding is a huge part of our offense,” Phil Jackson said. “One of the reasons we do well in that area is we have a lot of people around the boards. We have a sense of just being there when the shots are going up.” The Bulls had more to lose and it showed in the early going. Everyone appeared tentative, including Jordan, who was playing in his first Game Seven in six years. Chicago quickly fell behind as Indiana calmly executed its offense. Jordan’s follow shot 91 seconds into the game gave Chicago a 5-4 lead, but Indiana scored the next 10

Bulls vs. Knicks: 1992 Playoffs, Game 7. Jordan 42pts

I really struggled to edit this one because there were so many great plays and sequences that I wanted to fit. Also wanted to include some plays that capture the amazing intensity of the game. The ending of the video is a little bit abrupt but that’s because of the time limitation. It doesn’t mean I cut out something important. May 17, 1992 In one of the most intense playoff series ever, it was game 7 in Chicago. In game 6, Starks had played the game of his life. Scored a career high of 27 points in 27 minutes while holding Jordan to 9-25 shooting. People were questioning Jordan’s strength and stamina after he admitted after the game that he was mentally drained. After a two days rest, however, he is his old self once again. Jordan finishes with 42pts (15-29), 6rbds, 4 asts. Don’t have the definite numbers for his steals and blocks. He starts the game shooting 10-13 from the field and ends the half with 29 points on 10-15 shooting. Pippen who was really abused by Xavier McDaniel all series long finally comes up big with 17pts, 10rbds, and 11 asts. Grant also plays very solid defense. This game has some of the most memorable sequences of Jordan’s career. The face-off with Xavier and the hustle play in the second half where Magic says “Whose game is it? it’s Michael Jordan’s game”, are really timeless classics. Despite the great effort by the Bulls, Knicks manages to hold on within 2-10 points until the fourth quarter. Then, the lead gets bigger and they accept the defeat
