This tutorial demonstrates and teaches you how to build a Light Sensor. This can be used to detect day and night cycles as a redstone signal. The Light Sensor is built from 3 main components. A piston is used to control killing grass during the night, and growing grass during the day. A redstone BUD Switch is used to detect grass growing and dying. A T-FlipFlop memory unit keeps track of the day and night cycle. If it rains during the day, the Light Sensor will still detect it as being day, despite the darker conditions. As you all know by now, update 1.7 brought with it sticky pistons which, in my mind, will be one of the most useful items in the game. However, a lot of people are quite annoyed about the fact that the crafting recipe requires slime balls to make the pistons “sticky” as many have not ever even seen a slime. With this in mind I thought I’d do a “quick” tutorial on how to make a slime farm so that obtaining slime balls will be much easier. Much of the research was already done by Roboticaust and so most of the credit must go to him.
