I decided to abandon the idea of drawing up downloadable maps for all the different parts of each mission. I’ve added live commentary and I’ll be using video annotations from time to time to help point out various key locations on the map. HOW TO GET THE ROCKET LAUNCHER AT THE BEGINNING OF THE GAME Here’s how to make sure you get the rocket launcher at the beginning of the game: 1) Delete all your saved games 2) Restart Far Cry 2 3) Start a new game, select Marty as your character and Normal difficulty. 4) After the opening cutscenes (taxi drive, Jackal’s speech), all hell will break loose in Pala and you’ll be tasked with escaping town. If you escape town alive, you will be almost guaranteed to start at the Fresh Fish location with Carbonell as your boss and with the RPG-7 rocket launcher as part of your default weapon loadout (instead of the flamethrower). So here it is, how you can beat the game. Or at least what I’ve been able to reproduce in my simulation. You line up the blocks so that you are building a tower on the second from the left column. You want to be able to easily figure out how to tap a beat in your head to the back and forth. On the slower rows, line up like usual. But when you feel the rows are getting too fast do this technique. Count the beat out for the block ahead of where you want to land it. So if you are building the tower on the column second from the left then look at the block in the left column. When the block lights up from one direction count that beat. 1, 2, and then press for that block on the 3rd beat. If you focus too long then you’re likely to either be late – which isn’t bad if you managed to build the tower in the second from left column – or you’ll be on time. But statistically you have a better chance of being early than of being on time. Now when you try it out successfully you’ll notice it doesn’t feel right to focus on the third beat and then press on the beat while you are still not sure. This is how your brain is built and how the game gets money. The neurotransmitter dopamine is responsible for signalling those split second feel good decisions that allow you to throw a great football pass or swing the bat at the right time. However like I showed earlier, it doesn’t pay to try and swing the bat late in life. So if you always go with the feel good feeling, you’re more likely to …
